Complete 2010 Firearms Course List Announced

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – May 26, 2010 – A complete list of all remaining 2010 firearms safety course has now been approved and made public on the Wellesley Consulting Services / gtagunsafety.com website.

The following CFSC/CRFSC 2-day courses are now open for registration:

July 24/25
August 21/22
October 23/24
November 13/14
December 4/5

All of the courses are planned for the Hilton Garden Inn Toronto/Mississauga, our usual training location, which is located near Highway 401 and Hurontario St.

New CFSC Instructor Welcomed

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – March 19, 2010 – Wellesley Consulting Services is pleased to introduce our new contract Canadian Firearm Safety Course instructor to our training team for 2010.

In addition to being a certified CFSC/CRFSC instructor, Mike is a 24-year veteran Ontario police officer and former Canadian Forces soldier who participated in several small arms teams during his military service. He is also a court recognized firearms expert, firearms verifier, and a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors, Canadian Shooting Sports Association, and the Firearms Safety Education Service of Ontario.

Many of our students are seeking employment in an environment where a firearm is carried for duty, something Mike has significant experience with. His depth and breadth of real world experience bring an added dimension to our training courses that is ideal to prepare students for employment with armoured car security companies, border services and other armed federal enforcement agencies, nuclear plant security and other jobs requiring a firearms licence.

CFSC Rate Change Coming April 1

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – March 3, 2010 – Wellesley Consulting Services is announcing a change in our course fees for our Canadian Firearms Safety Courses that will take effect on April 1, 2010.

The course fees will rise to $220, and the cost of student handbooks will now be an extra $9.52. GST will be added to the costs, and will become a harmonized tax on July 1, 2010, when the Province of Ontario introduces the 13% HST.

Currently, course fees are $220 with GST included ($209.52 plus GST), with the cost of the books included in the cost of the course.

“We continue to deliver high-quality firearms safety education from certified, experienced instructors at a competitive price,” says Raymond, executive consultant for Wellesley Consulting Services and gtagunsafety.com. “We are on track to double the number of students trained this year over 2009, and in order to reach that level of service we recently recruited another instructor and acquired new training kits, which have added to our costs.”

The move also brings Wellesley Consulting Services in line with other firearms safety course providers in the Greater Toronto Area who charge extra to their students for course handbooks.

New Office Location

shirtwcssepia We are pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2010, we are now located at 2680 Matheson Blvd East, Suite 102, Mississauga, Ontario.

Relocating our office to Mississauga will bring us closer to our main training location, which is also in Mississauga, near Hurontario St. (Highway 10) and Highway 401. The move will focus our core business, firearms safety training, on serving the areas west of Toronto.

Although we will continue to receive correspondence at our previous Toronto address, we encourage those registering for training or sending payments to use our new address.

Those who are attending an upcoming course may also drop off payments or arrange, by request only, to pick up student manuals at our new location starting January 4. There is ample visitor parking.

Wellesley Consulting Services / gtagunsafety.com continues to evolve to serve its clients needs, and our relocation to Mississauga is an important step in increasing our accessibility to our customers.

2010 Firearms Courses Open

Registration opened today for the first of our 2010 firearms safety courses, beginning with the weekend of February 6-7.

Once again, we are offering the 2-day non-restricted (CFSC) and restricted (CRFSC) safety course and examinations in a complete weekend format, from our central Mississauga location. We also include the student handbooks, and will ship them to students ahead of time on request providing the student is fully registered and paid.

While our full schedule for next year is not finalized, we have firm dates for the following weekends: February 27-28 and March 27-28, in addition to the opening February weekend.

Our course fee remains unchanged at $220. As of July, we will be required to charge an additional 13% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), due to recent Ontario legislation. Early registration avoids the increased tax burden.

We have been delivering firearms safety training to the public since 2007. In addition, our instructors frequently deliver courses for government clients and other CFSC/CRFSC providers.

The CFSC/CRFSC course and exam is a Department of Justice designed course, and meets the requirements of the Firearms Act with respect to satisfactory firearms safety training. Obtaining this certificate allows you to apply for a Possession and Acquisition firearms licence (PAL) endorsed for both non-restricted firearms (rifles and shotguns) and restricted firearms (handguns and some rifles and shotguns), which is required for some occupations including Canada Border Services Agency officers, some provincial and federal regulatory law enforcement officers, nuclear plant armed security, armoured car security, and other armed security positions.
